Stoke City: Potters close to making Rangers Jamie Ness first signing of summer
STOKE City are today closing in on the signing of Glasgow Rangers midfielder Jamie Ness on a free transfer.
The club have been making sure they've got a strong legal case for signing the 21-year-old as a free agent following threats of compensation demands from north of the border.

Ness has exercised his right to terminate his contract with the soon-to-be liquidated Rangers. However, that has prompted threats of legal action from Charles Green, whose consortium will set up a new Rangers club and want to keep Ness's contract.
However, Stoke's case looks stronger after Ness's team-mate , defender Steven Whittaker, joined Norwich at the weekend after also announcing he didn't want to transfer his contract to the new Rangers club.

Norwich are now waiting for the Scottish FA to approve the move and transfer Whittaker's registration.
Meanwhile, striker Kyle Lafferty is expected to be unveiled by FC Sion of Switzerland after also arguing he is a free agent because his contract was with the old Rangers club.
Ness is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Potters after his right to move on a free transfer was backed by the Scottish and English players' unions as well as FifPro, the Federation of International Footballers' Unions.
FifPro say Green's threat to sue players who refuse to transfer their contracts to the new Rangers club amounts to "modern slavery".
As well as being prepared to risk a legal battle, Ness will also be determined to prove his fitness having missed most of last season through a groin injury. He has made just 18 appearances in the last 18 months.
The left-footed midfielder can play in the centre or out wide and City would like him in the squad by the time they return for pre-season training next week.

“Interesting debate on irony and different peoples interpretation of it. It's the same on the web with no definitive definition. The only thing that is 100% clear is that Soccerknob doesn't have a clue what it is and he has made a right fool of himself. I prefer sarcasm to irony as it's more fun, here's an example of sarcasm that should clearly define how it works "That Soccerfoots a bright lad".”

“To help Mr Dap
"And Flint, sarcasm and irony are one and the same thing."
Not really
Irony is conveying something by saying the exact opposite.
whereas Sarcasm is meant to hurt someone, Irony is not.
In some situations where irony is applied
the ****ur that is achievd is sarcastic.
But sarcasm is always mockery.”

“Been away on business the last couple of days. Great to see Soccerknob is giving everyone lessons on the use of the English Language regarding Irony and Sarcasm - "Soccerknow - your intelligence astounds me!" - Am I being ironic or sarcastic?
Some of the posts below are hillarious - well apart from the ones from Soccerknow who is his usual arguementative self.”

“I usually read the main article and the opinions of others, as I am intrested in my team and dont usually comment. It just annoys me to read your negative comments. Do yo have a social life I wonder? Extremely doubt it! You are one of lifes moaners soccerfoot, predictable, boring and angry that life is passing you by, if it hasn't already. Simple and plain you rub me up the wrong way and wish you disappear into oblivion.”

At least i read people like dope's posts just for a laugh and to rty and understand how a grown man could be that thick !! the thicker they are , the more immune to you telling them they are thick. Why? they just dont understand!!

is it really possible a grown man could be that thick ?? is it ?? I will forgive you dope, but only if you have been living in a cave with the wolves since you were born and never got the chance at an education, beyond going to the univeristy of google !!”

“I find it very uninspiring and mentally unchallenging when I read through the comments you leave soccerfoot. Please, please go and tell someone else about your biased, unopen minded views or maybe even someone who even cares.....We need a break from it!”
