STOKE City striker James Beattie has targeted 100 Premier League goals after returning to the top flight with 19 still to score.

And Stoke's latest signing reckons he is hitting top form after putting his career back on track at Sheffield United over the past 18 months.

The 30-year-old, who penned a two-and-a-half year deal in a £3.5m deal, says: "I was sure I was always going to get back into the Premier League one way or another."

So rather than writing daft comments on here, please get back to your Daily Star brain train and if you don't mind, unless its about Stoke City FC, don't address me on here again. Thanks”

“Paul R Moston, I see you are trying to be a steward even though you cannot manage a days work. If you do get the job, put a badge on with your name, I am sure there is one or two on here who would like to meet you...!
Also just done an anagram of your name - slum port vale.!”

“If TP cannot see that Cresswell is NOT prem class then something is amiss. He runs with the ball when he should pass it....he hardly brings other players into the game..and he needs more time to make his decisions - which you can't afford to do at this level. He claimed he was a striker and has not scored a goal - the Delap 'off the bar' chance came to him - should he have scored ? it was a poachers chance...he failed to react quickly enough. Kitson will get goals - he is getting into position and needs game time - he will deliver. TP has a few options now to play with lets see how he juggles them to get the best from ALL. Fuller as an impact sub sounds plausible. We musty though find that diamond in the rough midfield playmaker....anyone know of any with huge gambling or businessdebts - please make them known ASAP”

“OK thanks for that Andy from Normacot. Be interesting to see what the ratio is, I'm just looking forward to seeing him play, hopefully ethrington can swing some nice balls in for him to get on the end of.It will be interesting to see who goes during the window.
on another note, hayden your remarks about Pericard are a little harsh, I think a couple of goals from him will set him away - he is better than that bleedin carthorse cresswell.I think it has to be players like him that TP will be thinking of shipping out. Perhaps that Derby fan who was on here last week who want him.”

“Guys. I'm reading this great debate and wondering what its all about. We are the second highest spending club in the window. The manager is trying to change the way we play and bringing in players to suit. I think Kitson is indeed a class act but he can only react to the service he gets which has been poor to him but suited the Mama / Fuller role. Kitson now lacks confidence but I believe one goal will transform the lad. The service will improve and both he and Beattie will get goals. As for Fuller, i think TP will keep him but use him as an impact sub which in the past has worked well. I just hope he dosen't put Griff back in when he's fit as he hasn't been at the races for most of this season. Final point, we must have one of the largest squads in the division now so surely some will go at the end of the month”

“Beattie's scoring rate at Everton suffered because a huge chunk of his appearences were from the bench cuz Moyes played with 1 striker.... Andy Johnson

    That Paul, is a FACT!!!!!”

“I've mixed feelings about Beattie. Why has he been playing in the championship if he is still good enough for the Premier league? Is he just here for the money to finish is career. Everyone was raving about what a top quality signing Kitson was and how he was proven at the highest level. I think he could be the first ever striker to go a full season without a goal. I've got a couple of mates who are Southampton fans and they have said that Beattie struggles with confidence if he isn't scoring (we already have one of them in Kitson). I just hope that Beattie does become our main man and do the business as Fuller off his cake, Kitson couldn¿t hit a barn door, Creswell just works hard and Pericard should be a Steward. Good luck at Chelsea on Saturday boys; I¿ll be there.”

“Now that we have a striker who has performed at a high level its time to discuss Fuller whos attitiude and sending off against WHU was undefendable. He has and is missing for 2 massive games and in any other job he would be dismissed for gross misconduct! Time to go Fuller no one is bigger or should damage the great team spirit at Stoke for me your days are numbered.”
