Stoke City: Andy Wilkinson charged with violent conduct after altercation with Manchester City's Mario Balotelli
STOKE City’s Andy Wilkinson has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following an incident in Saturday’s game against champions Manchester City.
The 28-year-old defender was involved in an off-the-ball altercation with Mario Balotelli in which the Italian international went down after Wilkinson appeared to raise his arm.
Although referee Mark Clattenburg spoke to the players, it is understood that the incident was not seen by the match officials at the time but was caught on video.
Wilkinson has until 6pm tomorrow to respond to the FA charge.
A statement on Stoke City’s website said the club are considering their options in response.
