Stafford Hospital deaths scandal: Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust could face administration
THE NHS trust behind scandal-hit Stafford Hospital could face administration, health regulator Monitor announced today.
It comes after an independent inquiry by Robert Francis QC condemned an 'insidious negative culture' at Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust, which led to hundreds of unnecessary deaths at Stafford Hospital between 2005 and 2008.

Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust was behind the scandal-hit Stafford Hospital.
There is also concern about the financial stability of the trust, as it seeks to battle the growing threat of insolvency.
A statement from Monitor said: "A decision in principle was taken by Monitor's Board yesterday following a recommendation from experts in the Contingency Planning Team that was sent into the Trust five months ago. The team concluded earlier this year that the troubled trust was neither clinically nor financially sustainable in its current form in the long term."
