SHOP workers are inviting customers to join them on a protest picnic to stop climate change.

Cosmetics store Lush, based in the Potteries Shopping Centre, Hanley, has launched its Trains Not Planes campaign in support of radical environmental group, Climate Rush.

Today shoppers are invited to sit down with staff for a picnic and a free slice of cake outside the shop, from noon.

Lush staff will be dressed as Climate Suffragettes, in Edwardian clothing and sat on picnic blankets which read: "Climate change is no picnic".

A Lush spokesman said: "The aviation industry has become the fastest growing contributor to climate change in Britain, and in order to bring it down to earth, drastic action needs to be taken.

"As a result, Lush Cosmetics is supporting Climate Rush, a women-led group inspired by the suffragettes who, 100 years ago, fought for their right to vote."
