Sports events light up a national waste
ENLIGHTENED: We are told by the authorities that we should do what we can to save energy and thus the planet.
I was watching ladies cricket on TV recently. The match was in broad daylight, and the floodlights that surround the pitch came on.
-

CENTRE COURT: Wimbledon with the lights on at night.
The commentator explained that it was a rule that they have to be switched on at the change of an innings, regardless of the daylight situation. In this case, the sun was shining.
Similarly, while watching the tennis from Wimbledon, the roof was closed and the lights were switched on. In fact, the Murray match didn't end until approximately 10.40pm, and the programme ended at 11.pm. The lights were still on.
I have always been of the opinion that this global warming business is a big con just to allow the Government to separate us from more of our money.
I shall be considering binning my energy-saving light bulbs.
