Speedway: Stoke HQ makes tracks on National League rivals
STOKE Eazy Rider Potters picked up their second piece of silverware of the season when Loomer Road was named track of the year.
Stoke won the National League Pairs in June and looked on course for a glorious year when they topped the National League table at the end of the regular season and reached the Knockout Cup final.
It didn't quite work out as planned, with Mildenhall proving the Potters' nemesis in both the play-off semi-final and in the cup.
But a month after Stoke's end-of-season heartache, promoter Dave Tattum has got his hands on another award ... without any of his riders needing to get back in the saddle.
The British Speedway Promoters' Association, the Speedway Control Board and the Referees' Association have voted Loomer Road the best National League track for 2011.
Tattum, pictured, said: "We have never won this title in all the years I have been at the club. We're very proud.
"I don't think there's a particular secret to our success, just plenty of care and attention to detail.
"It is a well-loved track."
