STOKE Potters starlet Klaus Jakobsen will double up this summer after agreeing terms to join Elite League Peterborough.

The 20-year-old Dane, who was named as the final member of Stoke's 2010 line-up last week, will be available to ride for Panthers when his Potters commitments allow.

Jakobsen said: "This is a big season for me. It's my last in under-21s competitions.

"I'm going to fight for everything. I want to prove what I can do and hopefully go into the Elite League next year.

"I have also spent a lot of money on my equipment as well as working on my fitness."

Jakobsen was third in the Danish under-21s final in 2007 and won a bronze medal in the 2008 European under-19s final.

Jakobsen has also been a regular in the Danish under-21s squad for the past four years, helping them finish third in the 2006 under-21s World Cup final.

Panthers team manager Trevor Swales said: "Klaus has been on our radar for six or seven weeks, but we couldn't make our move until he had sorted out his Premier League future. He can't wait to get started."

IN a poll conducted on the Stoke Potters forum and the official Stoke website, Paul Pickering has been voted rider of the decade by the supporters.

Pickering, who joined the Potters in 1998, was forced out of the sport after suffering a serious arm injury at Hull in 2005.

He made a brief comeback, but was unable to rediscover the form that had made him a fans favourite.

"Paul always conducted himself well both on and off the track and it's pleasing that he is still fondly remembered," said Stoke promoter Dave Tattum.

Pickering won the poll ahead of Jan Staechmann and Alan Mogridge, with Ben Barker in fourth spot.
