Speedway: Potters left stunned by Emerson about turn
STOKE received a significant setback in their preparations for the 2013 National League season yesterday with the news that winter signing Emerson Jones has quit the sport.
Jones was set to make his National League debut for the Easy Rider Potters in March, but has instead decided to concentrate on his career in motocross.
The stunned club are now looking for a replacement.
The 21-year-old, from Stourbridge, first linked up with the Potters towards the end of last season.

And although he had only ridden at amateur meetings, Jones impressed the Stoke management sufficiently to be handed a reserve berth in their 2013 team.
However, he said last night: "My heart just isn't in it. I thought I could make the transition from motocross to speedway.
"But I've come to realise I just don't feel the same about speedway as I do motocross, and I made a mistake in thinking that I would."
"I appreciate the faith shown in me, but it's better to realise how I feel and act upon it now rather than get half way through the season and then call it quits.
"I'm sorry to have let Stoke and (promoter) Dave Tattum down, but I have made the right decision for me and the club in the long term."
