GARETH Isherwood has secured a National League berth with Scunthorpe for the new season.

But the Stoke asset, who spent last season with Buxton, has been told by promoter Dave Tattum that he remains part of the Eazy Rider Potters' long-term plans.

"I thought I wasn't going to get a ride anywhere and that may have forced me to quit," said Isherwood.

"Joining Scunthorpe is a really good move for me and will give me more big-track experience, which is something I have been missing.

"I have spent quite a bit of time at Buxton, which is a lot smaller and tighter and this will give me different experiences and make me think differently about my racing.

"I didn't want another season with Buxton, but my options were running out, so this is great news as far as I'm concerned.

"Scunthorpe have a good reputation and the team looks quite strong, so maybe we will be challenging for honours.

"I still haven't given up on riding in the Premier League and one of the good things is that Scunthorpe run in both the Premier and National Leagues and our meetings will go on after Premier League fixtures.

"That means I will be able to soak up the experience of being around a higher class of rider."
