Speed limit is cut near school
FAMILIES in a village have won a 10-year campaign to get the speed limit outside their school reduced.
The county council has agreed to cut the limit outside Dilhorne Endowed Primary School from 40mph to 30mph.

LONG STRUGGLE: Charlotte Atkins.
Residents and youngsters won the support of the parish council and MP Charlotte Atkins in their fight.
A community speedwatch group was also set up to put the brakes on speeding drivers.
Ms Atkins said the decision was announced at a meeting at the school last week by county council highways representatives.
The reduced speed limit is expected to come into operation in six months' time.
Ms Atkins said: "It has been a long struggle to get the county council to implement this 30mph limit on the road outside the school.
"But it is now going to happen, which is very good news for the children and for the whole of the village.
"I would like to congratulate the Dilhorne Community Speedwatch team for all the work they have put in to deter speeding.
"Now I hope their work will be made easier by illuminated speed indication devices and more visible school signs.
"This demonstrates what can be achieved if we all work together."

“What a suprise to see Ms Atkins behind yet another speed reduction. Shame she's not put in a temporary reduction when the school is opening and closing which has been proved to be more effective in protecting children!”
