REAL ale lovers are in for a treat this week as Congleton Leisure Centre stages its eighth annual beer festival.

There will be 20 different beers and two ciders from across the country, including the Freddie Trueman, an amber coloured beer named after the cricket legend.

It has been brewed at 4.0 per cent by Copper Dragon, in Skipton, North Yorkshire.

The bar will be open from 7pm to 11pm from tomorrow to Friday and from 5pm to 11pm on Saturday.

Organiser Neil Pile, who turns 48 tomorrow, said: "We have been in the Good Beer Guide for 10 years and have a wide selection of beers from all over the country.

"We sold out last March and are hoping to this year."

Admission is £2.
