IT WAS with sadness I read of the death of Michael McKnight.

I met him many years ago while I was a Justice of the Peace, sitting in Newcastle court. Whether prosecuting or defending he always remained polite and sincere even to defendants but always received the answers he wanted.

He was a professional of the 'old school' and will be missed.
