RUSSIAN skating stars promise a dazzling performance when they arrive at The Regent Theatre next week.

Snow White On Ice, pictured, which takes place from Wednesday, March 17 until Sunday, March 21, features former World, European and Olympic competitors among its cast.

A specially commissioned score from Italian composer Silvio Amato provides the musical backdrop as the Regent is transformed into a frozen wonderland.

Wild Rose producer Vee Deplidge pioneered the concept of ballet on ice in the early 1990s.

She wanted to create productions for the stage rather than ice arenas.

"While watching an ice show in 1991, I was struck with the thought that marrying danger and speed with the beauty of ballet could be totally spectacular," says Vee.

"I had always loved theatre. Transferring it to the ice was long overdue.

"What makes Snow White on Ice so different is the quality of the skaters. The end result is truly magnificent."
