HEALTHY EATING: Single people have been trying their hand at new recipes on a cooking course.

The Cooking for One course has been organised by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and the Community and Learning Partnership in conjunction with Cheadle's University of the Third Age (U3A).

The six-weekly sessions, which started yesterday, are being held at Bishop Rawle School, Cheadle, on Wednesdays. Classes are aimed at encouraging people to eat healthier meals.

Veterans of previous courses include widower Mike Leonard, aged 61, from Quarry Close, Werrington. He said: "I mainly ate ready meals and takeaways, and wanted to learn how to make healthier meals."

Course tutor, Melissa Worth, aged 39, of Leek, pictured, said: "It has been brilliant."
