Singer upset after being cut out of Come Dine With Me in Stoke-on-Trent
SINGER Robin Soleimani has been left with a sour taste in his mouth after being edited out of a television show he hoped would give him his big break.
The lead singer of local band Stepping Lane was asked to entertain guests on Come Dine With Me when pal Nick Hall was picked to appear on the Channel 4 show earlier this year.

Robin, from Birches Head, spent £200 on a new outfit, hours rehearsing a Robbie Williams song and promoted his appearance to all his friends, family and fans.
The show was broadcast on Friday night, but Robin’s performance had been taken out.
This Sunday between 11am & 4pm with FREE admission at the Moat House Hotel Festival Park we will be exhibiting with some special show offers, the weather forecast isn't good but our deals are

Robin, aged 27, pictured, said: “I thought my performance went very well.
“All the guests seemed to be enjoying it, and the film crew too.
“Being on television is a big thing for me.
“You never know who is watching these shows. I thought it could have been a big break, not just for me but for the band.”
Robin was asked to perform on the show by Nick, who is the cousin of one of Robin’s band members, as a surprise for the guests.
He had just a couple of weeks to prepare his act.
Robin says he was not asked to sign anything to tell people he couldn’t talk about the show, so he promoted it on Facebook and told everyone he could to watch it.
He said: “The producers said they wanted me to sing Let Me Entertain You.
“I don’t know any Robbie Williams songs so I had to learn the words and the chords for the guitar. It’s a fast song so it took me a while.
“I got a new jacket, shirt and trainers and got my haircut so I could look good on the show.”
Robin watched the programme from the Birches Head Hotel as he was setting up for a gig on Friday night.
He added: “Everyone in the pub was watching it. I have a large family and some of them got together for it.
“One of my fans said she had 20 people round to watch it at her house. My phone went mad as soon as Nick’s part had been on.
“People couldn’t believe I had been edited out.
“If they had told me I had been edited out, I wouldn’t have told everyone and looked like an idiot. “I’m disappointed because people watched the show because they thought I would be on it.”
A Channel 4 spokesman said: “Robin was found and suggested to the producers by one of the contributors.
“He was not guaranteed airtime as production can never make such a promise.”

“The show was ABOUT cooking/hosting...NOT a singing/talent competition !!!! clearly Sentinel paper does not watch Come Dine With me ....I was cooking solid for 6 hrs that day, made my own flower arranging, lots of details were involved in the table presentation and even making homemade chocolate/nut/coconut truffles for after coffee afterwards contestants were given some to take home in beautiful boxes which wasn't shown. We were filmed for about 30 hrs solid that week to make 1hr program so we all knew and was obvious ,it would be heavily edited....I am gutted for Robin ,he was very energetic and understandibly very excited about his tv debut, his song did fit really well and by giving the host Nick 8 out of 10 he was highly rewarded for his great Stoke theme night.....and for all the narrow minded very young viewers you do NOT need to be born and bred in Stoke to appear on the program, it is a cooking /hosting competition base on HOW WELL YOU CAN COOK....Wish you all a great Bank holiday week end :-)

“What if he had appeared on the show as alot of acts have? Has anyone seen a poster advertising a singer as seen on Come Dine With Me? The charts certainly wouldn't be beckoning given that its full of songs that largely sound the same apart from the odd interloper into the world of women telling man they want their thing and men saying that forgetting birth control for one night is a good idea.
Who was that dick who everyone thought was gay? We can cook stuff other than lobby and his menu was rubbish.”

“What's he moaning about? Bet he had a good free blowout at least. That's a cr@p song anyway. God knows what it sounds like "sung" by an amateur. And while we're at it, that's a really really weird programme with some really, really weird people on it. Maybe this guy was just too normal and ordinary for the producer. Get some tattoos, Robin. Oh, and a really big stupid-looking hat and a touch of make up and a nose stud or three. (Just trying to be helpful).”

“Had to learn the words. Jesus, it's hardly knocking out great swaths of Hamlet. On that one you could come out with all sorts, you can't tell what Robs getting though him anyways. Ohh! We are in Stoke so someone shows up and bangs out a Robbie Willams number, that what the makers wanted, in other words, takeing the Micky.”

“"I don't know any Robbie Williams songs so I had to learn the words and the chords for the guitar. It's a fast song so it took me a while"
There are only three chords in the song.....and all three of them are amongst the first half dozen you learn when starting guitar.
So in reality, this guy was on a cooking programme with a handfull of novice chords, a new jacket and haircut. And the big moment was lost?
Get real mate.....”

“Mr big man you obviously do not know that Pig Pen Gary has gone into hiding,as i went into the Pig pen as he dared any of us to do, i even travelled 53 miles to do so.And my suspicions were con firmed he was full of tosh, as he had been bogged off a long time ago by the management for basically being a knob.”
