RESIDENTS have been told to register their interest in new accommodation for the over-55s before it is too late.

Staffordshire Housing is building 30 apartments and four bungalows on a former vicarage site in Normacot.

The organisation says there has been a lot of people showing interest in the Upper Belgrave Road development and that information is being distributed to them first.

Housing manager Julie Russell said: "We have had interest from people already and are keeping them up-to-date with everything going on.

"Our next step is to get our brochure out to them and that will hopefully be in March."

Plans for the development were passed in January last year and it is expected to be completed by June.

Some nearby residents initially raised concerns about parking problems once the accommodation was built.

But they have since been told by the housing association that the amount of on-site parking available is greater than at some other schemes.

Rent for the apartments and bungalows is expected to be about £90 a week.
