TWO men who stole toys from Argos were captured after being recognised on CCTV.

Michael Addison and Kevin Rowlinson went into the shop in Baths Road, Longton, at 4pm on August 24 and selected toys from the shelf.

They filled carrier bags but left without paying for the stolen goods worth £150.67.

The men were arrested after being recognised on the store's CCTV footage.

Addison, aged 33, of Berdmore Street, Fenton, and Rowlinson, aged 46, of Ripon Road, Blurton, pleaded guilty to theft when they appeared at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court.

Addison also admitted breaching a conditional discharge.

Simon Dykes, mitigating, asked magistrates to give both men credit for their guilty pleas and for their co-operation with police.

Magistrates sentenced Rowlinson to a 12-month conditional discharge and told him to pay £75 compensation and £85 costs.

Addison was fined £90 and must pay £75 compensation and £85 costs.
