Shoppers snap up Comet bargains
DOZENS of shoppers have flocked to Festival Park this morning as electrical giant Comet closed their doors for the last time.
Bargain-hunters from across the region descended on the store on the final day of its closing down sale.

Shoppers have been descending on the Festival Park Comet for its last day of trading.
Kevin Marlow, aged 54, a Michelin worker from Fenton said: "It was very empty when we got there at 10.30am so it can't be open much longer.
"It is sad to see them close the doors on such a big company and the workers are visibly upset."

Staff predicted that the store would be shut by midday after the last of the stock sells out.
Administrators announced the closure of 125 Comet stores in November.
And Deloitte was only keep the remaining 70 stores open, including at Festival Park, until all remaining stock was sold.

“Sorry but all my sympathy for the staff went after reading the article below in last weeks Sentinel, I do feel for their families with them being out of work at Christmas but anyone who acts in the manner described last week needs to take a good look at their own conduct in this season of good will.

“It is terribly sad for the staff, couldn't be a worse time to be losing your job but, until these stores do something about the prices they charge,or are forced to charge because of their overheads, they will continue to go under whilst Amazon and Ebay thrive.”
