Sheriff's high praise for fire service
THE High Sheriff of Staffordshire was due to visit Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service's headquarters today.
Katie Evans was set to have lunch with Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford before visiting the control room to witness 999 calls being taken.
Mrs Evans said: "Over the past few months, I have met several members of the service and their families. In March, I will be presenting three firefighters from Staffordshire with awards for bravery. Courage is required as part of the job and I have been hugely impressed by their commitment and dedication in the face of all kinds of danger."
Mr Dartford said: "I am sure her visit will provide a valuable insight into what the service does."
