Setting record straight on MP
Over the last few weeks, a number of incorrect and misleading comments have featured in the local press attributed to Cheadle MP Bill Cash. I thought it would be helpful if I clarified matters.
Firstly, Mr Cash requested an extension to the consultation period as part of the housing allocation and core strategy debate. This in itself isn't possible as it would mean publishing revised dates in the media as well as writing to thousands of consultees. However, in line with all previous consultations, we're more than happy to accept any representations received after the closing date – as long as they're submitted within a reasonable time.
The second set of comments related to the power station planning application at Cresswell where it was allegedly reported by Mr Cash that the District Council was stalling matters. This simply isn't true at all. The application is being presented to the planning committee next month – and it'll be a recommendation for refusal as we've made clear from the outset. We're only a consultee on this application and our response will be submitted before the closing date which is still some time away.
