Sentinelle Makeover: Miriam Birchall
Sarah Mason, a stylist at Tranquility Hair and Beauty Salon, in Esporta, Festival Park, says: "Miriam's hair was quite limp when she arrived. It needed colour and shaping. We decided to keep it light because she's always been quite blonde. Using L'Oreal colours, I did a full-head of subtle highlights, applying two blondes to one dark lowlight to give contrast, movement and an even tone. With the cut, I went for a take on the classic bob, with a few layers to add movement. I applied some mousse and a cream blow-dry lotion, and then dried the hair using a round brush. I also used rollers to add height and make it bouncy and full of life without being too big. To finish, I used hairspray and some serum. Afterwards, Miriam looked lovely – really classy."
COST: Tranquility is running an offer of £49.95 for a cut and colour. Call the salon on 01782 210235.

The make-up
Clare Bartlam, senior beauty therapist at Tranquility, says: "Before applying the make-up I used some ESPA products, beginning with Floral Spafresh in a spritz, which is gently hydrating. Next, I applied some 24-Hour Eye Complex to help take away dark circles, hydrate and nourish. And I also used 24-Hour Moisturising Complex. For the make-up, I used Bare Escentuals products, starting with Bare Minerals to give a flawless finish. I then applied warmth powder to bring the colour back into the face. With the eyes, I decided to go for three shades of green because Miriam has really nice blue eyes. I picked chenille, envy and socialite, which are all quite sparkly. I also used brown mascara and butter pecan lipstick, and finished with the floral Spafresh spritz to seal the make-up. She looked great – really glamorous."
COST: Tranquility is offering two treatments for £30 or three treatments for £40. And prices for makeovers start at £25.
The clothes
Rachel Steele, service supervisor at Outfit, Festival Park, says: "Miriam was dressed casually when she got here, in a grey cardigan and jeans, and I felt she needed brightening up. We went for a nautical theme, including a pair of cropped trousers from Wallis in navy blue for £25. On the top half I put her in spots and stripes, so she wore a red spotted blouse from Dorothy Perkins for £25 and a jacket, also from Dorothy Perkins, in navy blue with a white pinstripe for £35. We also picked red patent shoes with a bow for £35 and a red handbag for £22, both from Miss Selfridge, and red bangles for £7 and a beaded necklace for £10, both from Dorothy Perkins. Miriam looked fantastic. She bought the outfit and three other tops."
The verdict
Miriam says: "I had a lovely day. The hair is really nice; it's soft and looks natural. And the make-up is beautiful. The clothes are lovely too. The shop assistant put me in things I wouldn't normally have picked, but they're really nice and bright."
