Sentinel Playerwatch - Transfer Window Day 14: Tony Pulis takes a peak at Ghanaian midfielder
PLAYERWATCH has spent the first two weeks of the transfer window trawling through British national then regional, then European, then South American, then Central American, then Australian newspapers to bring you exotic tales from Diego Arismendi and Wilson Palacios's dad.
Now Stoke City's gossipers have spread to West Africa and, to be precise, one of Ghana's leading football transfer rumour centres, Ghanasoccernet.com, to bring news on Dutch-born Ghanaian midfielder Jeffrey Sarpong.
-

TAKING A LOOK: Ghanasoccernet.com has said Tony Pulis is checking out Dutch-born Ghanaian midfielder Jeffrey Sarpong.
The 24-year-old former Ajax man is a free agent after tearing up his contract with Real Sociedad in La Liga and has turned up for a trial at the Britannia Stadium so "Stoke boss Tony Pulis can take a look".
Before anyone can say, "A rumour! An actual rumour!", however, a word of warning from those good chaps at Ghanasoccernet.

"Sarpong," their report continues, "has had unsuccessful loan spells at Dutch side NAC Breda and Spanish Segunda side Hercules."
Still, a name has been well and truly thrown into the hat and it is about as strong as the first mumblings anyone on this side of the Atlantic heard about Geoff Cameron moving to Stoke back in last summer.
Back in the old rumour merrygoround, the South Wales Evening Post leads off today with Kenwyne Jones emerging as Swansea City's ultimate, number one, top of the list transfer window targets ... still.
The Evening Post say the Swans are closing on the signing of Belgian wideman Roland Lamah but what manager Michael Laudrup really wants, really really wants, is the powerhouse striker from Trinidad and Tobago.
It writes: "Jones is currently enjoying a run in the Stoke side ... but he only got a chance because of an injury to Peter Crouch, and the feeling is that the England man will soon be back in Tony Pulis's team.
"It seems he could now be on his way to Swansea — though Stoke may insist on securing a replacement first."
Laudrup, however, sidestepped questions about Jones as neatly as he could a tackle in his Barcelona pomp.
"There are a lot of names out there right now. When things are done and secured we can talk about them," he shrugged.
"Obviously I know most of the players who are being mentioned, but that doesn't mean we have an interest in them.
"And even if we do, it's a long way from having an interest to actually signing the player."
