A CHARITY employee is aiming to conquer the UK's three highest mountains to raise money for where he works.

Rob Capener, head of marketing and communications at Nantwich charity Railway Children, will take on the challenge in June to raise £175,000.

The task involves scaling Scafell Pike in the Lake District, Ben Nevis in Scotland and Snowdon in Wales as part of the Three Peaks Challenge.

And he wants 50 teams of four to do it with him, with each group pledging £3,500 in sponsorship.

Rob, from Nantwich, who expects the challenge to take 36 hours to complete, said: "This is the eighth time we have organised the National Three Peaks Challenge.

"Our event is completely unique as we are the only charity that does it by rail rather than using motorised transport to travel between the mountains."

“Poor journalism I'm afraid, these are not the three highest peaks in the UK. They are the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales respectively. Many mountains in Scotland are higher than Scafell Pike and Snowdon.”
