Saxon statue to go on show
RESIDENTS and VIPs will be given an exclusive preview of a nine-foot statue created to celebrate the Staffordshire Hoard tonight.
The Staffordshire Saxon – a sculpture of an Anglo-Saxon warrior – will be unveiled at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Hanley.
The £25,000 statue, funded by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, has been created by sculptor Andy Edwards.
Guests at tonight's unveiling will be given the first glimpse of the Staffordshire Saxon and treated to a presentation, which will include a talk by Andy and Staffordshire Hoard expert Deb Klemperer.

The unveiling comes as an exhibition on the Hoard, sponsored by Wedgwood, continues at the museum until September 9. The statue will be available for public viewing tomorrow.
