Rugby: White is hero for Castle
NEWCASTLE were indebted to George White's last-ditch tackle in the dying stages of their 17-12 home win over Handsworth in Midlands Three West (North).
Handsworth had just narrowed the gap with a try when White's heroics were needed for Newcastle to cling on to their fragile advantage.
Newcastle had earlier dug deep into their reserves to establish a 14-7 half-time lead after tries from Ant Edwards and Dan Jones.
Edwards went over in the corner following Carl Twigg's fine break, while Jones sidestepped his way through the Handsworth defence – and the referee – to claim his score.

Edwards added a superb drop goal from the 10-yard line after the break, but Liam Bailey's excellent tackling and Matt Toplass's winning of turnover ball was needed to keep Handsworth at bay.
