Rugby: Sandbach's winning run comes to an end
SANDBACH'S 100 per cent start in National League Three Midlands was ended by a 15-6 defeat at home to high-flying Nuneaton.
They should have known it wasn't their day from the moment Benny Elliott narrowly failed to add to his early penalty when an audacious drop goal attempt hit the woodwork.
Nuneaton, who had started with victories over Longton and Derby, then launched a wave of attacks which were rewarded with a try for a 5-3 half-time lead.
Sandbach's man-of-the-match Josh Longson caught a high ball straight from the restart to win the penalty that Elliott converted for a 6-5 lead.

But with Dan Massey sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on, Nuneaton made their numerical advantage pay as they powered over for their second try.
And Sandbach were again a man light, following prop Matt Beesley's yellow card for retaliation after a robust tackle, when Nuneaton claimed their match-clinching score.
