Rugby: Critical month for Crewe's promotion hopes
CREWE and Nantwich enter a make-or-break month buoyed by a promotion rallying call from chairman Jon Cockburn.
Crewe drew 10-10 with Marple last Saturday and now sit third in South Lancs/Cheshire Two, a point behind Ruskin Park and three behind Oswestry.
As they now prepare for the visit of the leaders on Saturday, Cockburn said: "February is going to prove the most important month of the season.
"Both Ruskin and Oswestry visit the Vagrants and what we need is the touchlines full of support for the club to cheer the guys on."
The top four, made up by Douglas sitting three points further down the table, have cut themselves away from the rest of the division with only eight games to play.
Cockburn believes the next four weeks is the crunch period when Crewe, under head coach Geoff Crawford, can set themselves up for a second promotion on the spin.
He said: "Not only do we have the opportunity to play the top two teams at home, but there are a few more twists.
"Oswestry still need to play Marple away, which is not an easy place to get a result, as we have just discovered.
"Ruskin also need to visit Marple and have to make the trip to Douglas, where we are the only team to have not lost this season.
"Then there is also the fact that they still need to play each other."
TRENTHAM, sitting second from bottom at the other end of the South Lancs/Cheshire Two table, are at sixth-placed Sefton.
CONGLETON host high-flying Holmes Chapel in South Lancs/Cheshire Three hoping to avenge a 50-0 thrashing dished out in October.
Meanwhile, it is a trip over the hills to Buxton for LINLEY AND KIDSGROVE.
Captain Carl Vickers comes in at scrum half for the injured Ashley Green while Pete Deaville replaces Darren Minton at prop.
Rob Mozelewski has been rewarded for some good displays for the second team with a place on the bench.
