Roads to be closed as race takes place

FIFTEEN roads will be closed off to traffic when the Tour of Britain bike race comes to Stoke-on-Trent.

The fifth stage of the national race starts and finishes in Stoke-on-Trent on Wednesday, September 16.

Motorists are being warned that:

Albion Street will be closed between Broad Street and Lichfield Street from 5am to 8pm;

The whole of Sceptre Street, Orb Street, Crown Street and Morley Street will probably shut between 9am and 6pm;

Parts of Broad Street, Potteries Way, Warner Street, Bethesda Street, Derby Street, Lower Bethesda Street, Cannon Street, Hinde Street and Old Hall Street will also be closed between 9am and 6pm;

The whole of Blurton Road, Heron Street, Station Bridge Road, Glebedale Road, Victoria Place, Victoria Road, Lichfield Street and John Street will close between 12.30pm and 3pm;

Parts of Barlaston Road, Trentham Road, Church Road, City Road and Bethesda Street will also be closed between 12.30pm and 3pm;

The whole of Stanley Matthews Way, Longton Road and Whitmore Road are expected to close between 9.30am and 11am;

Parts of Trentham Road and Stone Road are also expected to close between 9.30am and 11am.
