Road to open after closure
A ROAD will be partially re-opened after being closed for five months due to roadworks.
Cemetery Road, in Silverdale, was blocked off in September as part of the Gallowstree roundabout improvement scheme, and some businesses in the area say they suffered as a result.
But the road will re-open one-way by the end of the week, following the completion of work which had been delayed because of recent bad weather.
Traffic heading from the roundabout towards Silverdale will be able to use the road.
The roundabout scheme, which will create a new entrance to Keele University's science park, is being carried out by Staffordshire County Council on behalf of the university. It is to be completed by May, when Cemetery Road will fully re-open.
Simon Tagg, county councillor for Thistleberry and Keele, said: "The roadworks on the roundabout have caused a lot of disruption so to see the partial re-opening of Cemetery Road is encouraging."
Three-way traffic lights will continue to be operated at the junction to control the flow of traffic through the works.
