'Revulsion' over civic centre plan
MY SENTINEL has just arrived and I have not even turned to page two before wishing to declare my revulsion at a glimpse of the proposed first part of the civic centre.
The picture is insipid and suggests an unnecessary expensive design.
I consider the design inspiration being based on Clarice Cliff to be both weak in itself and, more particularly, an insult to Clarice Cliff.
She is renowned through out the ceramic industry and the antique world for the Art Deco designs she produced, and I see no comparison between her work and the designers' proposed elevations.

As a professional member of the construction industry, I find it intriguing that construction is expected to commence in April 2013. It would suggest to me that the pre-construction preparation work has been rushed.
Such actions are likely to finish up costing the local authority, and therefore the city residents, unnecessary additional expenditure.
It is not only elephants which have memories, and the voting box may be the way to change direction.

“Yeah well happy voting Keith!
As you live in Staffordshire your vote will matter in the county elections. It won't make a blind bit of difference to Stoke-on-Trent.
Keep your mind on the county of Staffordshire where the coalition looks after its own. Staffs had just 2.3% cut as opposed to Stoke's 8.1% - where's the fairness in that?”
