In June, a former pottery worker was jailed for running a brothel.
Fifty-three-year-old Maryellen Mayer made £23,000 running a massage parlour in Middleport before it was raided by police.

2) Stoke City: I shouldn’t have let Shawcross leave Man Utd, says Sir Alex
Sir Alex Ferguson admitted in February that he had, had second thoughts about letting Ryan Shawcross leave Manchester United – but it was too late because the centre-half had already put pen to paper with Stoke.
The defender joined Stoke from United in January 2008 in a £2m package, having impressed on loan for City in the first half of that Championship season.

3)Murderer Lance Rudge: I’ve got it nice in my cell
In June, jailed murderer Lance Rudge said on a television documentary that he was enjoying prison life – because he has a television, stereo and three meals a day.
Rudge was convicted of murdering disabled Gregory Baker at his Alton home in 2007.
The 24-year-old said he 'has it nice' behind bars because he does not need to get a job.

4) Cheadle bodies update: Investigation continues, suspected names released
In January, the bodies of a 42-year-old man and 46-year-old woman were found by officers at a property in Ness Grove, Cheadle.
It later emerged that Karen Climpson, who had a history of depression, had stabbed her boyfriend of 18 years, Mark Chandler, to death in a "frenzied" assault before killing herself.

5)Mum stabbed six times with screwdriver outside primary school
In May, mother-of-six Carol Bailey was stabbed up to six times with a screwdriver as she walked past Abbey Hulton Primary School.
Her former partner George Simpson later pleaded guilty to her attempted murder and was jailed for nine years.

6) Man was armed with Cillit Bang during Stoke-on-Trent siege
In June, it was revealed that police had been involved in a 19-hour stand-off with a householder who had armed himself with a bottle of household cleaning fluid.
At least 100 officers surrounded Richard Jablonski's home in Weston Coyneyin 2011 after someone called police to say he had a gun.
The case was dropped this year after Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court accepted he was armed with a bottle of Cillit Bang.

7)112mph death crash driver is jailed for nine years
In January, drink driver James Appleby was jailed after doing 112mph on a 30mph main road moments before killing two men in a head-on crash with a taxi.
Appleby was driving his late father's Jaguar XK8 on Victoria Road, Fenton, without wearing a seatbelt when he overtook a bus and ploughed into the Hanley-bound cab.
He was jailed for nine years after admitting two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing death while uninsured.

In November, a popular Knypersley teenager died during a fishing trip.
16-year-old David Moss was pulled from a pool at Moreton Fisheries, near Congleton.

10) 28-year-old man filmed himself having sex with pet dog
Pervert Paul Charnley was placed on the sex offenders' register for five years in November, after the 28-year-old man filmed himself having sex with his pet labrador.
