HERITAGE WALK: Residents were due to take part in a New Year's Eve celebration with a difference last night.

The ninth Barlaston Wassail was held to mark the village's Anglo-Saxon heritage.

The walk over Barlaston Downs was set to include a fire torch parade while standard bearers were due to carry 12 Anglo-Saxon themed banners representing the 12 calendar months delivering wassail, meaning good cheer.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Midland Air Ambulance.
