Joe Chang, aged 83, of Moran Grove, Middleport, said: "I want to see more houses put up because everywhere is derelict at the moment.

"It is good they are holding consultations but nothing ever seems to get done."

Gordon Riley, aged 72, of Morton Street, Middleport, said: "Some of the plans look good but whether things will ever get done is a different question.

"I think the whole area needs tidying up."

Patricia Plimbley, aged 60, used to live in Clewes Street, Middleport, but now lives in Cobridge Road, Hanley.

She said: "All the options are good and I like the idea of accommodation for old people."
