On Sunday, Remembrance Day, the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts of 1st St. Andrews Porthill Scout Group, along with Porthill's Brownies and Guides, paid tribute to those who have been killed while serving in the armed forces, by parading through the streets of Bradwell and Porthill and taking part in an act of Remembrance at St. Andrews Church Porthill.

The parade started at St. Barnabas Church Bradwell and was led by the Scout Group's Drum Corps which is made up of members of the Cubs and Scouts. The young people were joined by members of the congregation of St. Barnabas Church, parish priest Fr. Andrew Knight and by a number of local Borough Councillors.

“The parade (and First St Andrews Porthill Scouts in general) demonstrates emphatically how young people in the community DO have respect for those who came before them and made the greatest sacrifice so that they can enjoy the lives they do today.
The event was testament to the hard work and deication of the groups leaders who all give selflessly of their own time so that the children and young adults of the community can learn new skills, and have great experiences in life instead of just hanging around street corners etc. they are the unsung heroes of our society.”
