F OLK stars will be visiting Leek over the next two weeks. Violin player Mik Kaminski returns to the town with the Beatles, Blues & Blue Violin project.

He will be joined by Phil Bates and vocalist Tina McBain.

The trio will be performing at Leek Folk Club's regular venue at The Swan, St Edward Street, Leek, tomorrow.

Mik and Phil have toured the world with The Orchestra, playing major theatres.

Beatles, Blues & Blue Violin, a spin off, fits around their other commitments.

Phil said: "The show will do exactly what it says in the title and explore some new arrangements of Beatles songs, especially where The Beatles and the Blues meet."

Mik added: "We are looking forward to seeing friends old and new throughout the tour, which will appeal to fans of the blues, The Beatles and people who just love great musicianship. And of course we look forward to seeing all of our friends again in Leek."

Doors will open at 8pm for an 8.30pm start. Tickets are £12.

Meanwhile, Folk act Ashley Hutchings and Ken Nicol will be at The Swan at the same time on Thursday next week.

They are visiting the venue as part of a national tour to launch their new joint album Copper, Russet And Gold. Tickets are £10.

Tickets for both events are available from the venue or by calling 01538 385260 and leaving a message.
