Elections 2010: Racist comment overshadows debate on schools
BNP deputy leader Simon Darby made a racist jibe at an Asian opponent during a public hustings event.
Mr Darby made the remark about Conservative Parliamentary candidate Norsheen Bhatti during a debate last night in Bentilee.

Responding to a resident's question, Miss Bhatti commented "there is nothing British about the BNP".
But Mr Darby cut in, saying: "I'm more British than you are."
After she demanded an explanation, Mr Darby told the Birmingham-born candidate: "You made a personal attack on me and you got one back."
At the beginning of the debate, Miss Bhatti had complained to organisers after discovering that she had been sat next to Mr Darby.
Miss Bhatti eventually moved away from the far-right politician, leaving a conspicuously empty seat between them.
Another candidate, Liberal Democrat John Redfern, refused to attend because he did not wish to share a platform with Mr Darby.
Audience member Dawn Kelly, aged 40, who lives in Bentilee, said afterwards: "What Mr Darby said sounded racist and there was no need for it."
Mr Darby and Miss Bhatti are among 10 candidates contesting the Stoke-on-Trent Central Parliamentary seat but only half attended the event.
They all pledged to fight to keep a high school in the Bucknall area under reorganisation plans.
The debate was organised by the Community School Action Group, which is battling to keep a school on the site of the Mitchell Business and Enterprise College, in Bucknall.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council plans to merge the school with Edensor Technology College, in Longton, to create a new academy outside Bucknall.
BNP Mr Darby said he was opposed to forcing white and Muslim pupils to mix at an academy he called "a huge social engineering factory".
Independent Gary Elsby said: "The new school should be built on the Mitchell site."
Miss Bhatti blamed Labour leaders for not listening to residents' wishes, and said: "Rather than telling you what the solution should be, we want you to tell us."
Matt Wright, of the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition, said: "Our solution is to refurbish the existing community schools and use the money we save to recruit more teachers to reduce class sizes."
Independent Brian Ward told campaigners: "I wouldn't come here and ask for your vote if I wasn't prepared to back you."

“There was no need for that yearight, that will only feed their hatred and make people vote BNP and make people march with groups such as the EDL, it was the Germanic barbarians who sacked Rome but thats not the point, just dont undo all the hard work, you seem like a good bloke, but dont lower yourself, extremism is extremism remember, BNP extremism is the same as Islamic extremism, Im not telling you what to do, youve got your own mind but why create more hatred.”

“simon...fair do's fella
as i say it was never a debate about judgements. i was just clarifying.
as you probably know david bowie's wife iman was a muslim, the politician yasmin alibhai brown, as fay said simon cowells soon to be wife, that faria alam who had it away with sven ericsson etc all from islamic backgrounds. so i appreciate and am aware it happens.
again the point is that although the women mentioned have done it, seem very happy and are in love etc etc, islamically they have sinned and are outside the fold of islam according to quran and sunnah, the ONLY islamic authority. Now i personally have no agenda with them or whatever but its one of the tennants of faith for muslims,
Ofcourse people want it both ways its like catholicism and homosexuality, if its against the religion the either be homosexual and good luck to you or be catholic. if you see what i mean, and to change the rules made by god and changed by man then to me that is no longer the true religion
to use alcohol as an eaxample, an old work colleague of mine used to sat you dont pay for a class whiskey and then add ice and coke to it”

“I see my copy and paste of the patriots posts was ignored so ill post it again.
These elections have spoken for themselves, the BNP have recieved their highest number of votes ever and have proven yet again that they are on the rise, with every election that goes by their support is growing, LIEbour Conservative and Lib Dem are massive partys with massive financial backing, they have a long history and many old voters stick to these out of tradition or habit and nothing else. The BNP are realists and the reality is that the BNP arent going to beat the 3 main parties just yet, they cant even afford to put candidates up everywhere like the 3 main big boys can, BUT Rome wasnt built in a day, support is growing and yesterday was the biggest increase in BNP votes ever and the BNP are the 4th largest party in Britain, and the biggest after the main 3, they are growing everday, every year and are going from strengh to strengh, I declare the results of yesterday elections as a victory for the BNP and I declaire the debate in this thread as a victory for the BNP , they have made point after point and shattered left wing lies with the truth, if anyone is joining the debate late, dont take my word for it, re-read some of the previous posts and you see for yours, the futures bright the futures BNP, but with or with the BNP this land of ours will never be an islamic republic and the British people will never be defeated. .....The Patriot has left the building with his head held high. NO SURRENDER
and thats how it is and thats how the majority of us Brits see it because THATS THE WAY IT IS, sorry if it upsets ya”

“Yea Right, I see where your coming from with Pauls first post, sounded abit confrontational, but thats maybe because he is on the defensive and thinks muslims are going to treat him the way his girlfriends family have done. I once dated a muslim girl myself from work and faced no hostility from her family, t, I got on with her brothers (who didnt drink) and her father who claimed he didnt drink but had the odd tipple behind closed doors, the only racist comments I recieved when I was with her were from other whites and 9 times out of 10 it was from white women calling me a sell out, traitor etc etc, but it never once bothered me, I was happy with her at the time so no one elses opinion mattered, we parted years ago but still keep in touch as mates, via good old face book she as since married a muslim man from Bangladesh (now living in wolves) and her sister is marrying a white Scotsman, (now living in Bury) its all good, there is more love than hate in the world, its just a shame the biggots are the ones with the biggest mouths, from BOTH sides of the arguements.”
