Quarry plan decision
A FINAL decision on controversial quarry plans is expected to be made by the Government.
County councillors will discuss proposals by Spectre Developments to dump thousands of tonnes of waste at Huntley Wood Quarry, near Cheadle, on Thursday.
Planners are recommending the application is given the go-ahead. If it is, it will be referred to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government because of its impact on the greenbelt.
The Newcastle-based company has asked the council for permission to dump around 360,000 cubic metres of soil, clay and crushed rock.
The company plans to transport the building waste with up to 80 lorry loads a day.
