A PUB landlady has been ordered to pay a total of £400 in fines and costs after pleading guilty to selling alcohol to a child.

Christina Bolland, the designated premise supervisor of The Black Bear Inn, Sandbach, sold alcohol to a 14-year-old volunteer during a sting operation.

Crewe Magistrates' Court heard Cheshire East Council's consumer protection and investigations team carried out a test purchase exercise in the town on October 4.

Bolland has now been fined £100 and ordered to pay £300 towards the council's costs.

Bolland was allowed to keep her licence after a review by Cheshire East Council, but ordered to undergo further training.

Councillor Rachel Bailey, cabinet member for safer and stronger communities, said: "Operations like this help in our efforts to tackle underage drinking."

“Where are the angry outraged comments and demands that this person be "given life" (or worse) that we usually get on this site when a person is convicted for dealing in even 'soft drugs' like cannabis?
Here we have a person convicted of 'dealing' (or supplying) an addictive 'killer drug' to a CHILD, and..... silence, such is the power of conditioning,

Well I will say it, this person should have been dealt with in exactly the same way that a person who was convicted of selling an ILLEGAL drug to a child would have been, a killer drug is a killer drug,”
