A MUM who assaulted her dad's ex-wife in a pub brawl has been given a community order.

Pauline Cordwell attacked Angela Cordwell at the Lambourne Inn, in Blurton.

The 29-year-old defendant also assaulted the victim's brother Dean Lockett on June 28 when he tried to split up the fight.

Cordwell, of Witney Walk, Newstead, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Prosecutor Philip Beardwell yesterday told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court that the defendant claimed the fight started after Ms Cordwell made a comment about her mother.

Paul Cliff, defending, added: "This was reckless as opposed to intentional. The victims received minor injuries."

Judge Simon Tonking sentenced Cordwell to a 12-month community order and 150 hours of unpaid work.
