Port Vale's Ashley Vincent: League Two Player of the Month award is team effort
ASHLEY Vincent has dedicated the first award of his football career to his Vale team-mates.
The winger said he was delighted to have been named npower League Two Player of the Month for October, but says the rest of the team should take just as much credit.

“I was buzzing when I heard about it,” he said. “I’ve never won any individual awards, so to do so now is amazing.
“I’ve been picked out for the prize, but I’m just one member of a team that’s doing well.

“I couldn’t do anything without the other members of the team, so this award is as much for them as it is for me.”
Vincent has formed half of an dynamic double-act this season, teaming up with winger Jennison Myrie-Williams to provide the ammunition for 17-goal striker Tom Pope.
And the 27-year-old has been on the scoresheet too, bagging goals in home wins against Oxford and Wycombe during a superb October to take his total to five in all competitions.
Vincent, who joined the club from League One Colchester in the summer, is the third prize guy at Vale Park so far this season after a September double in which Micky Adams won the manager of the month award and Pope picked up the players’ prize.
“Let’s hope there are more to come,” added Vincent.
“These awards show we’re doing something right, and they’re good for the fans too. Hopefully, it can help them buy into our success.”
Vincent will be formally presented with his award before tomorrow’s home game against York City.
However, he won’t be able to celebrate by inspiring Vale to another victory as he is serving a one-match ban for picking up five bookings.
“I’ve let myself down a bit with some silly bookings this season and now I’m paying the price,” he added.
“Hopefully I can put it right with a decent performance the next time I’m playing.”
Adams, below, paid tribute to the wing man who has been the architect of so many scoring chances in his short time with the club.
“He’s been outstanding,” said the manager.
“In fact, both of our wide players have been the mainstay of our team and have really got at people.”
