Port Vale: More players could leave, says Adams

MORE players could yet be shown the exit door at Port Vale after boss Micky Adams transfer-listed six of his squad yesterday.

The manager made Ross Davidson, Dave Howland, Danny Edwards, Steve Thompson, Danny Glover and Luke Prosser available for permanent transfers or loan deals.
Eighteen-year-old Davidson has already sealed a one-month loan move to Blue Square North outfit Stafford Rangers.
Adams made the bold step in a bid to recruit his own players by freeing up crucial funds in his cash-starved budget.
Describing it as a "wake-up call" to his whole squad, Adams says it shows he is not prepared to accept mediocrity.
He added: "This wasn't something I've taken lightly.
"I've thought about it and there could be others who follow. These are the lads who are on the fringes of the first team at the moment, so I've made them available.
"We're all on trial and I want to be honest to everybody.
"I could have just started the season, gone along and not made this announcement.
"But I want to show the supporters and everybody that I'm not happy with the make-up of the squad and that I want to do something about it – if I can."
Adams said he has the nucleus of a good squad, but knows he needs to strengthen in certain areas.
But he also praised the first-class attitude of the six transfer-listed players and believes they will benefit from not settling for reserve-team football.
He has challenged them to prove his judgement wrong should they be thrown back into first-team contention.
Adams, pictured below, added: "There could be a way back for them.
"I've told them that if they are selected it's up to them to go and prove me wrong.
"They are all young professionals and they are going to go on and have great careers.
"But at this precise moment in time I need to shake things up."
