MICKY Adams will resist making a late raid on the loan market to boost his side's play-off bid.

Vale are six points off the top-seven ahead of tomorrow's trip to promotion-chasing Chesterfield (3pm), and clubs have until March 25 to sign loan players.

Adams said: "I've got no thoughts about the loan market and I won't be bringing anybody in.

"Will anybody be leaving? I can't say that for certain, but nobody is due to go out.

"At the beginning of the season the plan was to try to improve on what we did last year – and we're doing that."

Vale's 28-man squad boasts just two loan players in strikers Sean Rigg (Bristol Rovers) and Craig Davies (Brighton), who are signed until the end of the season.

The only Vale player out on loan is striker James Lawrie, who is with Blue Square Premier side Kidderminster Harriers until March 20.

Vale will be striving to boost their play-off hopes at Saltergate tomorrow.

Chairman Bill Bratt is refusing to write off this season, but is convinced Adams is laying foundations for a brighter future.

Bratt said: "His remit was to improve the side and see how far we can go this season.

"Then next season will be the one in which he will make his biggest impact – we have faith he will do that."
