Port Vale: We're finishing on a high, says Glover
by Steve Shaw
VALE boss Dean Glover insists his side's positive display against Aldershot proves they are on the right track after their clash ended in stalemate last night.
-

The Valiants earned a seventh clean sheet of the season against the Shots, although Glover felt his team's performance also merited a seventh home victory of the season.
Glover said: "I felt we deserved the three points.
"We played exceptionally well in the first half when we didn't just play well, we also created chances.
"We got a lot more crosses in than we have done in many other home games.
"The first half was one of the best halves we have played at home for a very long time in terms of creating chances, working the keeper and working as a defensive group.
"Things are starting to gel for us. Unfortunately it's happening at the end of the season, but we are finishing on a high, which is the main thing."
Despite earning a point, Vale slipped one place to 19th in League Two after being leapfrogged by Barnet, who secured a 2-0 home victory over Rotherham last night.
With just five games of the season remaining, and 15 points to play for, Vale lie 10 points clear of the relegation zone and second-from-bottom Chester.
While they are not mathematically safe, Glover is confident the club's Football League status is secure. And he is now eyeing a strong finish to the season.
Having also earned a draw against a high-flying Bury at the weekend, his side face Rochdale, Rotherham, Grimsby, Wycombe and Barnet in their remaining fixtures.
Glover added: "Over the last two home games we've probably deserved four points out of six. But football's like that and at least we have a 10-point advantage over Chester,
"Most of us are on level par now in terms of games played, and with five games to go, the bottom teams have got to virtually win them all to overtake us. But there is no doubt that on last night's performance, we can win a few more games ourselves."
Striker Marc Richards missed out on last night's clash against the Shots after failing to recover from an Achilles injury.
However, Glover says his top goal scorer will resume training today and has not ruled him out of Saturday's trip to Rochdale.

“2 points from the last 12 available and Glover calls that "finishing on a high" - if ever there was evidence the buffoon doesn't have a clue then this is surely it. GLOVER OUT.”

“No wins in four games, and 5 points from the last 6 games, is that what Deano calls finishing on a high? Is that the points ratio he's hoping for next year when he's looking forward to "hopefully" having a good season?
Message is, thats actually worse than the average points per game this year, so god help us next year.”

“Here we go, same old record, lets pay him up and attract who when the club have no money!!! I have seen some dire games this year but cant fault the effort given in the last two games, so maybe we are finishing on a high. Forget about Mr offside Rogers who couldn't time a run to the toilet or Richards who has to be the centre of attention all night. Lets give the young lads some credit because we are never going to attract seasoned pros on obscene salaries. About time the club realised these lads are the future, not journeymen who are in and out of clubs every season. Give them the experience they deserve and they can only improve. Does the improvement in attitude happen to coincide with Keith Downing's role?”

19th in the league
dropping points at home.
as a former vice president i cant see many people stumping up hard earned money to watch rubbish on the field...then listen to rubbish spoken after.
the manager is a disgrace and should step away and do the decent thing for the club .”
