Port Vale: What the fans thought of the demolition
IT WAS an outstanding performance that only comes along every few seasons.
It was the classic away win in that we kept it very tight at the back and scored two well-taken goals before the break.
The highlight for me was Rob Taylor's excellent strike – you need someone like that who can score out of the blue.
Marc Richards's third goal after the break was crucial because I thought Chesterfield might come at us in the second period.
The striker's hat-trick was as varied as it was brilliant and Richards has played well in the past few matches.
I just hope he isn't another Leon Constantine because if Richards goes in the summer we've got to replace his goals.
ANDY McCORMACK, Burslem
IT WAS a fantastic performance which included some great goals.
Marc Richards's first is a contender for goal of the season because his little flick finish was brilliant.
Richards has been playing well and been a strong leader of the line in the past few weeks.
I don't know how much influence Geoff Horsfield has had over him but he's holding up the ball very well these days.
While Adams has tried different strikers this season in a bid to create a balanced forward line, Richards has always been his main man.
I also thought Rob Taylor and Lewis Haldane played well.
I'm getting a little excited over our play-off chances, although there are still teams behind us with games in hand.
ROB RHEAD, May Bank
I CAN'T believe how good our finishing was and much credit has to go to Marc Richards.
He missed a couple of sitters against Bradford last week but he was lethal on Saturday.
We were superb and it was a fantastic all-round display, while Joe Anyon didn't have to make a notable save.
We were on the front foot from the start and once Rob Taylor scored our first goal I was confident of a positive outcome.
I thought John McCombe had another great game.
I'm quietly confident over our play-off chances all of a sudden.
