Port Vale fans have their say on the new season-ticket prices

AFTER such a poor season the club was always going to get stick for any price increase, but nobody can say the structure isn't fair.

The adult price of £229 – less than £10 a game – is very fair. It is probably the best they could do.

If it wasn't for Dean Glover, they could have charged £250. But the club needs to attract supporters with something they can buy into. That means they either change things behind the scenes or get new players in.

As good as the deal is they won't get much interest if there aren't changes, especially when they want 5,000 paying customers.

Sentinel columnist PHIL SHERWIN

THE new prices are reasonable. I wasn't expecting a massive increase after this season's performances, but I don't think we have much chance of achieving 5,000 sales again. We had a tremendous response last year, but the performances on the pitch have been so poor this season I don't think that many fans will renew.

The adult price of £229 is decent. It is about £100 cheaper than two seasons ago. But while it is difficult to believe we can get 5,000 sales again, things may change with talk of new investment.

Fanzine editor ANDY McCORMACK

MY first reaction is that any season ticket costing less than £10 per game is a good deal.

But having watched our poor performance at Exeter on Tuesday, we haven't got a hope in hell of selling 5,000.

Despite achieving 6,500 pledges last time, it appears we have around 2,500 season tickets-holders who don't come to matches because of the standard of football. I can't see those people renewing.

But it is an excellent effort to keep fans onside. There is a good incentive, and the adult price of £229 is a decent deal. But I'm not optimistic about the response unless there are big changes at Vale.

Season ticket-holder JEAN JACKSON

IT'S a tall order to attract 5,000 sales again, but we've got to go for it. Hopefully the club will be able to announce some positive news which will perk things up. But we can't be defeatist. We have got to try to get 5,000 sales.

“Vale till I die, I will be renewing my season ticket. Great Price - well done Bill. (still believe something has to be done about glover and fear that many wont show the same "through think and thin" attitude as myself). Especially as Glovers favourite line at the moment is that its the fans fault and the players should be praised for being gutless, uninterested worthless fools.”
