Port Vale fan zone: Exeter had no excuse for frozen pitch woe
Port Vale supporter Phil Sherwin has his say on events at Vale Park
OH the joys of being a football fan! Late postponements for rain or fog are a hazard of the job for a travelling supporter, but there is no excuse for a last-minute cancellation for frost.

If the pitch at Exeter City was unfit for play at 1pm, then it was exactly the same at 9am.
In the current cold conditions, it doesn't take much brain power to realise conditions aren't going to improve enough for the game to take place.
It was only one part of the pitch, but if nothing is done, it's not going to improve.
Exeter City seem to be the ones who were at fault. Not just because they didn't cover the pitch – don't they have weather forecasts down there? – but because they didn't let people know that there was a problem early on Saturday morning.
No one was answering the telephone ... probably because I suspect that there was no one at the ground much before the referee arrived at midday.
There were plenty of other games called off for frost on Saturday, but apart from Colchester, all were announced reasonably early.
Rochdale had a 10am inspection, but Exeter seem to have forgotten they are back in the Football League and are obviously still run like a non-league outfit.
Anyway, rant over. Presumably the sensible thing now would be for the game to revert back to its original date in early February.
On the field, it means Danny Glover and Marc Richards will have an extra week to serve their suspensions and will miss the revenge mission at Macclesfield on Saturday instead. It's a bit difficult to forecast the rest of the line-up because the future of the loanees need to be sorted out.
Dave Brammer, Lee Collins, Gareth Owen – and even Luke Rodgers at Yeovil – have to get their situations sorted out before Saturday.
Scott Brown joining us until the end of the season isn't a bad signing, and Notts County recalling Neil Mackenzie just saves us the trouble of sending him back.
For those fans who think we don't throw enough money at the team, it was interesting to hear Rochdale manager Keith Hill's thoughts on the transfer window.
"We can't compete against the big spenders in this league such as Port Vale," he said. That just underlines exactly how much we are punching below our weight.
I was a bit surprised Macclesfield have made it a pay on the day fixture on Saturday, something that could prove to be a mistake.
I know there is room for 1,900 in the away sections and we probably won't take quite that many, but I can see their turnstiles struggling to cope.
We surely can't lose to them three times in a season, can we?
