Port Vale: No deal on cards for old boy Lee Collins, says Micky Adams
PORT Vale boss Micky Adams is unlikely to make a move for former defender Lee Collins.
The 24-year-old is a free agent after agreeing a settlement on his contract with Barnsley yesterday.

NO WAY BACK: Lee Collins.
Collins has been back to Vale Park to watch the first team this season, and remains popular at the club after playing 163 games before his £50,000 move to Oakwell last March.
However, Adams has already strengthened his defence during the transfer window by signing central defender Darren Purse and left back Daniel Jones.

He said: "Lee has great affinity to this club. I thought he did fantastically well for me, but I can't see anything happening."
Adams is delighted with his transfer window business, which also includes the signings of Chris Birchall and Lee Hughes. However, he hasn't ruled out strengthening his squad further when the window for loan signings opens a week today.
He explained: "While we are happy with the numbers and the people we have available to us in our squad, once the loan window re-opens we might look again. But we are happy with what we have done.
"We think we have done decent business and we did it early rather than scramble around looking for players at the back end of the window."
Vale's attempts to sign two young players didn't come off yesterday, but Adams says they are likely to look at the players again in the summer.
Meanwhile, the Valiants are considering letting winger Ryan Lloyd go out on loan.
Defender Joe Davis is doubtful for tomorrow's home game with Accrington after he suffered a dead leg in the reserve game with Oldham on Tuesday.
Louis Dodds and Rob Taylor are back in training after a calf strain and Achilles injury respectively. However, neither are likely to be involved against Accrington.

“I think whether to sign Lee Collins or not is a no-brainer; Lee has pace and can play in a number of defensive combinations. Our current back two are sluggish to say the least; Purse seems an excellent acquisition so far, however, I have to say that my jury is still well and truly out on Chilvers whilst accepting his experience is a bonus. I think collins would add pace to the central defensive unit whilst adding penetrative drive breaking out of defence. Foe me Collins is a must.”

“I suspect he's got something lined up already, otherwise he wouldn't have agreed a pay off on his contract.
Vale may have been interested a few weeks ago, but since then they've signed Chilvers and Purse to the end of the season, and have McCombe and Davis available soon as centre half competition. With Jones signed at left back and Yates available as full back cover, do Vale really need Collins?”

“I think Jones & Purse are two good defensive moves, but don't tell me that Chilvers is a better proposition than Collins. I don't think a six month contract would have been bad to strengthen the squad for our run-in. Collins could and has played anywhere across the back four.”
