DEAN Glover insists he is prepared to play the waiting game in his quest to become Vale's new manager.

Glover and fellow Valiants coach Andy Porter are locked in a straight fight to replace former boss Lee Sinnott, who was sacked last week.

Glover admits he is in the dark as to when board will make a decision, but said: "Whatever the board decide to do we have to abide by that.

"It would be nice if a decision could be made soon, but if we have to carry on for a couple of weeks then that's fine.

"I do think the team needs leadership and one man needs to take the final decisions, but I'm sure the decision will be made soon because the club needs stability."

Glover and Porter are currently joint caretaker managers, and oversaw a 1-0 defeat at Gillingham on Saturday in their first game in charge.

But Glover remains upbeat about his partnership with Porter, adding: "It went very smoothly on Saturday. We spoke about what we wanted to do and agreed on which formation and players to use. If it stays that way for a while it won't be an issue."

In the meantime, Glover has urged the club to unite behind the team ahead of Saturday's visit of Notts County.

He said: "Everybody needs to stick together, which will obviously be the best thing for the club.

"We need to get our heads together on and off the field and take the club forward because we've had enough trouble over the past 18 months after losing Martin (Foyle) and Lee (Sinnott)."

TOMORROW night's Port Vale supporters' club meeting has been postponed.
