(Pope 40, 62)

TOM Pope continued an incredible run of form with a two-goal blast which clinched Vale's fifth successive away win.

The striker overtook his best-ever season's tally by making it 11 for the season – from just 13 games – with a goal in each half.

Jennison Myrie-Williams made the first with a breath-taking run from the halfway line, floating over a cross towards the far post where Pope headed home.

Ashley Vincent followed suit with a dazzling run of his own after the break and Pope did the business yet again.

Exeter City: Evans, Coles, Woodman, Baldwin, Tully (Sercombe, 74), Amankwaah, Davies, Oakley, Doherty (Bauza, 68), Cureton, O'Flynn (Keohane , 68). Subs not used: Krysiak, Nicholls, Moore-Taylor, Dawson.

Port Vale: Neal, Duffy, McCombe, McDonald, Loft (Burge , 51), Myrie-Williams (Lloyd, 89), Taylor, Morsy, Dodds, Vincent (Shuker, 85), Pope. Subs not used: Yates, Davis, Williamson, Johnson.

Attendance: 3,938.

FORM GUIDE:

Port Vale: DWWDLW

Exeter: DLDWWL

WHO WE'D LIKE TO BUY

Jamie Cureton: The fox in the box might be getting on in years, but his predatory instincts are still strong.

WHO TO BOO

John O'Flynn: During his Barnet days, he scored both goals to condemn the Valiants to a 2-0 home defeat in February 2010.

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

Gary Sutton (Lincolnshire): Experienced official was in charge of Vale's 3-0 win at Bristol Rovers in October 2011.

PROBABLE TEAMS

Port Vale: Neal, Duffy, Purse, McCombe, Jones, Myrie-Williams, Burge, Loft, Vincent, Pope, Andrew.

Exeter: Evans, Coles, Woodman, Baldwin, Bennett, Amankwaah, Gosling, Doherty, Molesley, Cureton, O'Flynn.

PREDICTION

Tom Pope ends his five-game spell without a goal by hitting the winner after Darren Purse's header is cancelled out by Jamie Cureton.
